I will be analysing the show mock the week. The likely size of the studio is 50:50. The seating is Host in the middle and 3 talent either side of them. the audience is seated in front of them on raised stands. The set looks good with a long desk that seats all the talent and host. It does restrict cameras from doing an over the shoulder shot but other than that i cant see it restricting any other camera shots. The set looks move able they would probably take it apart after the show and put it into storage for when they next need it. It doesn't look like it would take long to set it up. shouldn't take more than a few hours to do. They use 6 cameras for this show. Theres a camera fixed to a crane which makes a very intesresting movement after the opening titles. There is the camera infront of the host with the auto cue on it, 4 floor cameras theres 2 either side of the talent and 2 opposite to the auto cue. the auto cue camera will be in a fixed position while the other 4 cameras will be on peds and moveable. The talent an host are fixed with radio mics which are omnidirectional these will pick up any audio from them. The audience will have a mic above them this will be fixed to the rig and most likely be a shotgun mic.
The set is a mix of purple red and blue colours which goes well with the blue desk it looks good on the screen. In the middle behind the host is a big World with the mock the week logo on it. This makes the host stand out and you know they are the host as the talent all have to same type of background behind them. The lighting rig doesnt look like it would be to complex but it is big enough to light the studio correctly. The light levels are fixed an do not change during the show there fixed in the same position.
The crew would be of about 18-22 people 6 cam ops, 6 cam asis, sound op, sound asis, DVD op, FM, Asis FM, Asis DIR, DIRECTOR and a vision switcher. The show is in a studio location. There are many different shots. There are 3 shots of the talent 2 shots and MCU of talent. there is also some 4 shots of the host an talent. There is some wide shots of the entire talent and host when they look to the big tv screen for VT inserts.
For the show there would be some health an safety issues to consider. How easily acessible the fire escape is for everyone to safely leave. Of the camera cables are going to create a tripping hazzard. The general format of the show is Q&A, it doesnt really stick to a rigid format its very loose there is a lot of banter between the 2 teams of talent and the host. the host is some what scripted for the questions but otherwise they mostly ad lib for the show. The host of the show tone is just like one of the talent they exchange banter an jokes also they dont seem like the overpowering quiz show host. The title sequence is just lots of clips from what has happend the past week which works well as it sticks to the style of show. They have a song in the background of it which also works well with the style. They have some VT inserts in the show to help put questions these are just short clips of recent things that have happend. The audience for this show are young generation around the ages of 16 - 23 as it is up to date topics an news that they do talk about. And they do have popular comedians on the show which attract younger audiences. Because they will regognise them and want to watch the show because they are generally funny people. So it will appeal to people aged 16 - 23.

ANALYSE AND REPORT LIVE TV SHOW
I will be analysing the show 'Have i got news for you'. For their opening titles they have a sting that is topical for the type of show that it is with lots of cartoons of stuff happening. Afterwards it goes to a widshot of the studio so we can see have an idea what it looks like. Id say the studio is about 50:50 in size. The set is designed to look good. it looks good on the cameras, the set is mostly a dark red theme and the back drop is blue coloured with loads of newspaper clippings. This goes in with the style of the show. It doesnt look like it allows the cameras to get an over the shoulder shot but they can get a variety of shots with the set. It looks like it can just be quickly wheeled of or taken apart and put in storage and they just get it out of storage an set it up. Doesnt look like it would take a long time. In all I can see there is 4 cameras used. Theres a camera rigged on a jib arm this would be used for wideshots. Theres 1 camera infront of the host which would have the auto cue on it this would be in a fixed position and give an MCU of the host. Then there are 2 cameras on peds which are moveable these give 2 shots, shots and MCU's.

The mic used would most likely be a shotgun mic. The set really goes well with the style of the show as its news based and the set has news paper clippings on it and it gives it a real news feel. The graphics used it its text the background of the graphic is again news papers.

I say that this is aimed at older generation around the age 30-50 as they will be able to get some of the joke references in this show and younger people 16-21 wont get most of the references used in the show.

DVD OPERATION AND INSERT REQUIREMENTS
DVD OP is very important for the show as they control all the VT inserts. The opening ending and any round stings. The DVD OP has to play the right insert at the right time. They should have a script to follow to be able to do it on time and know whats going on.
The inserts should be all the same size and file type. screen ratio 16:9 and file type PAL. They should have at least 2 seconds of black before and after the video. This gives time for the DVD OP to cue up the video. There also should be a breif information about the VT insert. So if it was either a graphic or a video this would be on the information. Also the number of the VT.

PLANNING CAMERA PLACEMENT AND SHOTS
Cameras 1 and 3 will both do a 2 shot of the TALENT an over the shoulder shot and a 3 shot including the HOST. The 2 shot will be a MCU.
There will also be CAM 2 which will be the safety shot of the HOST this will be an MCU. And also 3 shots with the TALENT and HOST.
CAM 4 will be on the jib arm. To create WIDESHOTS, and 3 shots. Also to try an make interesting shots and movements.

PLANNING AUDIO COVERAGE
Our plan was to have all talent an host equip with wireless omnidirectional mics. Which the sound operators can control from the booths. They will be able to lower the levels using the sound mix desk. There will be microphones above the audience on the grid to pick up the applause.
Each one of the CAM OPS will have some CANS. This will allow them to communicate to the director and FM the FM will also have CANS these will be wireless so they can move about the floor.
The sound and DVD operators wont have wireless CANS but a box where they can also communicate with the FM, Director and CAM OPS.

The script is very important for the quiz show. It has all the technical information that the director, DVD operator needs. It also helps out camera operators as they might need to know upcoming shots so they can prepare for it. It has information about VT inserts with the length of whichever clip is going to be played.
The script also contains Speech for the HOST of the show. And all the AD LIB shots the director will want during the show and any AD LIB for the HOST. The general layout of the script is all audio used in the show from any source, will always go on the right hand side of the script. SIGNAL FLOW AND THE TECHNICAL RIG

directional microphones hanging from the studio grid follow an XLR cable into the Stopbox from there they connect to RACK. The RACK then follows in a cable to the sound mixer. the sound mixer has individual faders which control each microphone and other sound sources. You can create a equal mix of the microphones to make sure they are not distorted by moving each fader either up or down on that sound source until its the right level any level from -6 to +9 is good. You can test the sound source via speakers or monitor. The speakers allow you to listen to the quality of the audio.Then it leads out into what we are recording in to.
On the sound mixer their is also a VU meter that is used to see the output sound DB. If the sound output is too quiet you wont be able to hear very clearly on your recording source, however if its too loud you will get distortion. the VU meter has coloured lights They show you the DB range. Green being quiet an red being loud. the perfect DB range is from -12 to +9 with 0 DB being the best.

camera plugs into a adapter box usually underneath the camera which then follows a cable back into the studio terminal outlet box (STOB). this then is also connected a RACK which connects all vision sources into the vision mixing machine. that's four inputs from the four cameras and one input from the DVD player. The vision mixing machine has lots of buttons each representing either a camera or the DVD players input and shows these on a small LED screen with the input channel marked next to the LED screen. it also has another screen at the end of the button which shows black. when ever using the Vision micing maching always start from black and end in black to prevent input showing from other vision source that isn't needed. the Vision mixer operates the vision mixing machine and tests the quality of the vision with their eyes. Once the vision mixer is happy with a vision source they can press the button that represents that vision source which in turn will put that vision source online which then travels out of the vision mixing machine via a output cable into the HDD.
